Zion Williamson Agrees To Do NBA Dunk Contest On 1 Condition

Zion Williamson is one of the bigger stars in the NBA today. This past week, when he confirmed why he finally stopped eating so much, many felt like the face of the New Orleans Pelicans was turning over a new leaf.

For years Williamson has been hyped as the league’s Next Big Thing, but he has been extremely reluctant to accept the baton.

On Wednesday, Williamson seemed to indicate that he was ready to step into the role of being one of the league’s faces.

During a session with the media, Williamsons suggested that he would be willing to enter the NBA’s annual Slam Dunk contest if one condition was met.

“If I’m in the All-Star Game, I’ll do the Dunk Contest. But if I’m not, I’m not doing it,” he said.

Given the way Williamson has been playing as of late, him being part of next year’s All-Star Game seems like a foregone conclusion.

It is a welcome change of pace from the stuff Williamson had been in the headlines for over the past year – like his mental health woes, being extremely out of shape and his poor relationship with his Pelicans teammates.

At the moment, it really feels like Williamson is getting his career together in a way many expected him to when he first came into the NBA.

Whether he enters the Dunk Contest or not next year, it is nice to see the pieces aligning for him.

Will Williamson actually end up participating in next year’s Dunk Contest when everything is said and done? Time will tell.
