Tony Romo Sparks Outrage With Gisele Bundchen Joke (Video)

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Chicago Bears 38-3 this weekend. In the process, Tom Brady became the first quarterback in NFL history to record 600 career touchdown passes.

Unfortunately, the momentous occasion wasn’t without controversy.

With roughly 10 seconds remaining in the first quarter of Sunday’s affair, Brady delivered a nine-yard bomb to wide receiver Mike Evans for career TD number 600.

Not realizing the magnitude of what that catch represented, Evans immediately gave the ball away to a fan.

That prompted this joke from CBS commentator Tony Romo:

As you might imagine, some folks didn’t take kindly to the comment.

Fortunately, the Buccaneers were able to retrieve Brady’s history-making football without having to offer up Bundchen for it.

“That was really cool. I got it in the bag over there,” Brady said after the game. “Mike gave it away. He goes, ‘Man, I’m sorry, man. I’ll get it.’ I said, ‘It’s alright. I’m sure they’ll find a way to get it back.’ But I don’t actually keep too many things so…in that circumstance, I just felt like that might be a good one to keep.”

It will be interesting to see if Romo ultimately faces any consequences based on fan backlash to his comments. You will recall, just a few weeks ago, Fox Sports’ Terry Bradshaw similarly sparked outrage with his comments about Erin Andrews’ wardrobe choice.

The smart money is on nothing happening to Romo in this case. But if everyone is still feeling overly-cautious due to the Jon Gruden situation, a slap on the wrist isn’t outside the realm of possibility.
