Spencer Rattler led his South Carolina squad to a very unexpected victory over Tennessee this past weekend.

For much of the season, the Volunteers have been regarded as one of the top teams in the nation. Not only did the Gamecocks beat them though – they dominated.

Rattler, specifically, had the best game of his life. He finished with 438 yards, six touchdowns and zero interceptions on 30-of-37 passing.

The youngster isn’t just thriving on the field, though. He has also reportedly been dating a young woman named Yazmina Gonzalez off it. She boasts nearly 23,000 followers on Instagram and routinely blows up for posts like this:

A recent reply by Rattler on one of her posts was telling:

Obviously Rattler’s college football life didn’t go according to plan. He came to Oklahoma with a lot of hype he simply didn’t deliver on. His decision to subsequently leave the Sooners for South Carolina was messy.

Rattler has gone into great depth in recent months about how Oklahoma had failed him and his one-word description of the program was telling.

It will be interesting to see where Rattler goes from here. There has been a lot of chatter about him declaring for the NFL Draft after this season.

If he were to do so, he would likely be a mid-round pick. He has a lot of raw skills, but his inability to do what he needed to do with them at the collegiate level will obviously scare certain franchises.

Rattler is the epitome of a boom-or-bust prospect. He will either be really successful at the next level, or he will never see the field. It’s impossible to know which one it will be.
