Rays Firing Kevin Cash Over Disastrous Blake Snell Decision?

Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash drew the ire of the entire baseball community on Tuesday night when he prematurely pulled ace Blake Snell in Game 6 of the World Series. Now many are calling for him to be fired for the boneheaded decision.

Midway through the sixth inning Snell had recorded nine strikeouts and only thrown 73 total pitches. Inexplicably, after giving up just his second hit of the game, Cash opted to pull Snell with one on and one out.

Needless to say, people were absolutely dumbfounded by the move.

Thanks to Cash’s decision, the Los Angeles Dodgers came back to win Game 6 by a score of 3-1, thereby clinching the World Series 4-2.

Will Cash ultimately have to face any consequences for his Tuesday night mistake? Time will tell.

  1. What’s happened to SPORT? If this removing of Blake Snell totally because of analytics is an example of the typical procedure for the future, let them use robots as managers. Maybe Kevin Cash was under orders so I’m neither ready to blame him, nor to exonerate his superiors. Viewership is down and I see tone deaf baseball management as a big reason. Major League Baseball maybe got over banging garbage can lids but this makes it look look bad once again.

  2. Kevin Cash should be fired. I think the game was rigged to stop at 7 games, possibly because of Covid. We’ll never know, but there should be an investigation. There was one for the 2017 series, wasn’t there?
