Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash drew the ire of the entire baseball community on Tuesday night when he prematurely pulled ace Blake Snell in Game 6 of the World Series. Now many are calling for him to be fired for the boneheaded decision.
Midway through the sixth inning Snell had recorded nine strikeouts and only thrown 73 total pitches. Inexplicably, after giving up just his second hit of the game, Cash opted to pull Snell with one on and one out.

Dear baseball gods,
In 2021 Please let Covid go away (after Manfred gets it) Please let us have 162 games. Fire Kevin Cash. Please dismantle analytics. Get rid of the shift. And Ref Sox pick up some pitching.

Jack Morris, on phone just now, on 29th anniversary of his Game 7:
“Blake Snell was throwing better tonight than anyone I’ve ever seen in the World Series. These analytics guys we have now think numbers are more important than having an ace at his best on the hill.” …— Reusse (@Patrick_Reusse) October 28, 2020
I’m still in shock. How do you take Blake Snell out of this game? I don’t care what the analytics say. Manage with FEEL for me ONE time.
— Jared Carrabis (@Jared_Carrabis) October 28, 2020
literally everyone: Blake Snell is pitching so extremely well, he should stay in for the 6th

Im sick to my stomach for Snell… he was doing something special. Haven’t seen someone command all four pitches like that all year.

I mean, here’s what Snell had done to the next three hitters he was due to face: pic.twitter.com/aJQst9cZZC

Thanks to Cash’s decision, the Los Angeles Dodgers came back to win Game 6 by a score of 3-1, thereby clinching the World Series 4-2.
Will Cash ultimately have to face any consequences for his Tuesday night mistake? Time will tell.
