Nick Castellanos emerged as one of two big heroes on Friday night when the Philadelphia Phillies came from behind to win Game 1 of the World Series.
With the game tied at 5-5 at the bottom of the ninth inning and the Houston Astros in position to score, the Phillies right fielder made a sliding catch to keep the outing tied.
From there, in extra innings, Philly catcher J.T. Realmuto hit a solo homer to propel his squad to victory.
In the midst of all the commotion, Castellanos decided to rub a little salt in the Astros’ wound:

You love to see it. The reference there was to the Astros’ infamous cheating scandal. Specifically, the idea that Jose Altuve was wearing a wire that assisted him in the playoffs:
Watch this area. Looks way more like a wire bending than it does a ripple in the shirt. pic.twitter.com/98lyA9Uyat

You will recall, Altuve himself had to come out and address this topic at one point.
Fans didn’t miss a beat. They immediately picked up on what Castellanos was alluding to and flocked to Twitter to react:

The World Series this year got off to a wild start when Paige Spiranac published a series of provocative photos to commemorate the occasion.
Then both teams took the field and participated in a game that more than lived up to the hype.

Philly is firmly in control at the moment, but things can change on a dime in this sport.
Will the Astros be able to shock the world and stage a comeback from this point forward?
Time will tell.
