NFL quarterback Dwayne Haskins was involved in a fatal car accident this week.
Haskins, 24, was reportedly hit by a vehicle in South Florida on Saturday morning.
“Haskins, a standout at Ohio State before becoming Washington’s first-round pick and playing in Pittsburgh, died this morning when he got hit by a car in South Florida, per his agent Cedric Saunders,” reported Adam Schefter of ESPN. “Haskins would have turned 25 years old on May 3.”
Haskins, a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, was training with other offensive players in Florida this week.

Haskins was selected with the 15th overall pick by the then-Washington Redskins in 2019. He spent two up-and-down seasons with the franchise before ultimately being released.
Although Haskins’ time with Washington was marred by bizarre incidents like a strip club controversy and his intimate texts getting exposed to the public, he showed enough promise to pique the interest of the Steelers.
Head coach Mike Tomlin’s comments about him were telling.
Coming into this season Haskins was viewed as Pittsburgh’s likely No. 2 quarterback.
As a one-year starter at Ohio State, Haskins recorded 50 touchdowns for the Buckeyes and led them to a 13-1 mark for the season. His potential at the time seemed through the roof.
Off the field, Haskins was a victim of domestic abuse — but his trauma went largely ignored because he was a man.
