Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has always been an instrumental part of Patrick Mahomes’ success.
The pair has a tight bond on and off the field, and Mahomes needs his guy to have his mind right heading into next season.
Unfortunately, Kelce has some unresolved drama with his ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole – and it could serve as a distraction heading into training camp.
It was believed that Kelce initially broke up with Nicole following her blunt comments regarding quarterback Cam Newton.
The pair seemed to stay split up throughout the summer, with Nicole even being linked to one of the biggest stars in the NBA.
Then last week something changed. Rumors emerged about Kelce and rapper Wiz Khalifa fighting over Nicole, which in turn led into this week’s headlines.
A few days ago, eagle-eyed fans spotted Kelce and Nicole exchanging pleasantries on Instagram:
Generally speaking, exes don’t usual have such friendly back-and-forths.

So Kelce’s interest is understandable, but still concerning. Heading into training camp you want your top guys focused on the season ahead. Female drama obstructs that.
Although he was a Pro Bowler in 2021-22, Kelce’s numbers were down across the board from his 2020-21 campaign. As were Mahomes’. And it’s not coincidence that the pair’s stats moved in the same direction.
Between Mahomes’ wild vacation photos with his wife and Kelce’s romantic gibberish, fans are understandably curious about how focused these two will be heading into 2022-23.
There’s still some time left before the start of the new season. Both men need to get their minds right for the battle that is to come.

Can Kelce and Mahomes right the ship and put Kansas City back on the trajectory everyone believed they’d be on after that first championship?
