Saints Fans Worried After Latest Drew Brees Post
Saints fans are worried after the latest Drew Brees post on social media.
The New Orleans quarterback is in the midst of a big career decision. At some point, presumably this month, he will decide whether he wants to continue playing or retire.
Up to this point, Brees has refused to give a time table on when he will make his decision.
“Obviously being here, I’m just very much focused on my family and this opportunity to be around the guys, playing the game,” he said a while back.
“Then, I’ll kind of lay low for a little bit, get away and then assess. I kind of have a process in mind. And I’ll give it a month or so.”
The choices on the table are limited.
Brees has already limited his options for next year down to two: he will either continue to be Saint or he will call it quits. He will not go play for any other franchise, he has said.
“I’ve never been in the situation where I was mulling over the thought of (returning),” he said.
“To me, each one of these contracts, I don’t know how many it’s been, I’ve played with them 14 years.
“It’s not a matter of if it gets done, it’s when. At this stage of my career, it’s not a given if I come back every year but when that time comes, I’ll always be a Saint.”

As such, the Saints are now waiting on their best player in franchise history to make his choice.
On Saturday, Brees gave his fans a different type of scare.
He did this when he posted a photo of himself tangling with a gorilla on Instagram.
The photo, originally seemingly from Valentine’s Day, shows Brees and his wife Brittany enjoying a day in nature. One of the parties who decided to accompany Brees and his wife on this adventure is a giant gorilla.
Fortunately, the photo was actually an old one. It was not from Valentine’s Day, as it seemed at first. Rather, it is simply an image from Brees’ humanitarian trip to Africa in 2019.
Now fans can get back to fretting over his status.
With the Saints quarterback safe and sound in the United States, fans can get back to worrying about what really matters: whether he will be returning next season.
One other interesting option that has popped up for Brees in recent weeks has been the possibility that he may go into broadcasting.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter said this much on NFL Live recently.
That said, the whole process is very hush hush, and neither Brees nor his reps are commenting publicly on it.
“Drew has not spoken with them or anyone about any new opportunities,” a rep told Schefter.
“Until such time as a decision is made about next season, he will not be engaging in any conversations regarding or considering any new opportunities.”

What sort of deal would Brees get from New Orleans?
If Brees does return to the Saints, it will likely be on a multi-year deal that will essentially only be a one-year contract.
In 2018, on the heels of signing a two-year, $50 million contract, Brees restructured it just one year later.
By doing that, the Saints star freed up $11 million in cap space that New Orleans then used to re-sign backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater.
In 2019, Brees was set up with a $23 million annual salary and the 2020-21 seasons immediately voided.
One way or another, a decision regarding Brees’ future is coming soon. And when it does arrive, it will have massive ramifications for the NFL as a whole.
