NFL Trade Block Heating Up: Spencer Rattler, Anthony Richardson and Bobby Wagner in the Rumor Mill

OTAs are quiet on the field but loud in the rumor mill, and a handful of notable names are popping up in NFL trade chatter as June approaches. The quarterback market is leading the way.

Start with Spencer Rattler. Trade rumors around the young passer are building, with reports indicating the New Orleans Saints are at least open to talking about a potential deal. Open to talking is not the same as shopping, but it cracks the door.

Anthony Richardson’s name is in the mix too. He is viewed as a quarterback stuck in his current situation, the kind of player the right offer could pry loose for the 2026 season. Young quarterbacks with upside always draw interest when a team senses an opening.

On defense, veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner has surfaced as a name to watch, with both the San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears mentioned as possible destinations. A proven veteran leader can be exactly the stabilizing piece a contender needs.

The common thread here is the June 1 designation across all 32 rosters. That calendar marker is a crucial time for cap maneuvering, and it tends to unlock moves that were on hold all spring.

Here is my read on the quarterbacks. Teams are always hunting for cost-controlled passers with upside, and players like Rattler and Richardson fit that profile. If a club misses on its top option, a trade for a young arm becomes the fallback plan.

For Wagner, the appeal is different. A veteran linebacker brings instant leadership and reliable production, and a contender like the 49ers could see him as the missing piece for a playoff push.

The reality is that most of these names will not move. Trade rumors outnumber actual trades by a wide margin, and a lot of this is normal offseason posturing as teams test the market.

But some of it sticks. Every year a few of these under-the-radar names end up changing teams once June 1 clears the cap path, and the smart move is to track which rumors keep gaining steam.

My advice for fans is to watch the quarterbacks closest. The position drives everything, and a deal for Rattler or Richardson would shift the outlook for multiple franchises in an instant.

The trade block is open. Once the calendar flips, expect at least one of these names to be on the move.

The other thing to remember is that injuries reshape the trade market fast. One bad break at a key position in training camp can turn a team that was standing pat into an aggressive buyer overnight, and that is when these dormant rumors spring back to life.
