Tom Brady’s Honest Message To Patriots Fans Ahead Of Super Bowl
Tom Brady will be playing in his 10th career Super Bowl next Sunday, only he won’t be representing the team he suited up for in his previous nine appearances.
After an acrimonious break-up with the New England Patriots this past offseason, one that featured team personnel publicly lambasting Brady and his ways, the six-time champion opted to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and try his hand at dominating the NFC.
The gamble worked out well for him.
How did it work out for the Patriots? Not quite as well. They failed to make the playoffs, multiple teams publicly mocked Bill Belichick’s failures, and their ability to reload for a future championship run is very much in question.
This week, during a session with the media, Brady delivered an honest message to Patriots fans that may end up being pretty tough to swallow: the Buccaneers presented me with a better and more attractive opportunity than the Patriots did.
“Becoming a free agent and then having the opportunity to continue my playing career, I love the opportunity that presented itself here, which is ultimately why I chose here,” Brady said, per Pro Football Talk.

“I really love the coaching staff. I loved the players that they had. I looked at those players and thought, ‘Wow, these are really great players. This would be a good opportunity for me.’ Obviously, a different conference and a different division – all of that I didn’t quite know about. In the end, I just [had] a lot of different choices.
“I don’t want to revisit them all, but I’m pretty detailed and thorough. I went through a process of decisions and thinking about everything that really mattered to me in some way [and] one form or another. Obviously, a lot of family considerations. My son lives in New York and I didn’t want to be too far from him. It just ended up being a great fit and as it’s played out.”

Brady amassed 4,633 yards with 40 touchdowns and 12 interceptions during the regular season this year. That touchdown total is the second-highest of his career – not bad for a 43-year-old.
Obviously the Patriots made a business decision and will have to live with it, but it has to sting a bit knowing that any questions regarding who was truly most responsible for the franchise’s dynasty were answered this year – and that individual was ultimately allowed to leave for nothing.
