Shannon Sharpe’s Brother Sends Emotional Text Amid Skip Bayless Drama
Skip Bayless drew the ire of the entire sports-watching world this week over his response to the Damir Hamlin situation.
Hamlin, 24, suffered cardiac arrest early in Monday night’s showdown between the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills.
Whereas some, like Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, handled the situation in an extremely classy way, Bayless opted to go the opposite route.
He initially sent out this tweet:
No doubt the NFL is considering postponing the rest of this game – but how? This late in the season, a game of this magnitude is crucial to the regular-season outcome … which suddenly seems so irrelevant.

Then, when he received a ton of backlash for it, he followed up with this damage control:
Nothing is more important than that young man’s health. That was the point of my last tweet. I’m sorry if that was misunderstood but his health is all that matters. Again, everything else is irrelevant. I prayed for him & will continue to.

Understandably, many were miffed. Bayless’ ‘Undisputed’ co-host Shannon Sharpe was so upset that he boycotted Tuesday’s episode of their show. Things have reportedly gotten so bad that the future of the show is now in jeopardy.
On Wednesday, Sharpe returned and did battle with Bayless once more. Their weird dynamic produced this awkward clip:

Shortly after the show wrapped, Sharpe shared a text message from his brother.

“I am so proud of the person you have become,” the text message read.
“You don’t pick or choose the stand you take, you take them all. Barney, Mary, Joe Tatum as well as Mrs. Keels would give you a standing ovation. Shannon you truly are a special man!”

It is hard to see how Bayless and Sharpe can continue working together.
Obviously some people handled the Hamlin situation better than others, but it is increasingly seeming like Sharpe and Bayless’ relationship is broken beyond repair.
Will ‘Undisputed’ in its current form survive the entirety of 2023? An answer will emerge at some point this year.
