Matt Rhule’s Crazy Contract With Panthers Revealed
Matt Rhule’s crazy contract with the Panthers was revealed on Tuesday.
Carolina knew that it would have to outbid the New York Giants in order to land Matt Rhule, so the organization really broke the bank for him.
According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Rhule is receiving a seven-year deal worth $60 million. With incentives, that total could rise up to $70 million.

Rhule, 44, was seen as one of the hottest candidates on the market this year. He was so confident that he would ultimately land a pro gig for 2020 that he opted to reject the Cleveland Browns’ request for an interview.
The Giants were considered a strong contender for Rhule’s services. After getting the offer from Carolina, he reportedly went to New York brass and asked them if they wanted to beat it.
They did not.
Instead, the Giants went ahead and hired New England Patriots special teams coordinator Joe Judge.
Whether that is the right move or not remains to be seen, but the Panthers certainly got the man they wanted.
Carolina fired Ron Rivera earlier this year after a decade with the organization. He signed on last week to become the new head coach of the Washington Redskins.
Rhule’s first major order of business will be determining what to do at the quarterback position. The Panthers need to decide whether they want to retain Cam Newton next year or move him to another team while he still has trade value.
