Georgia and Kirby Smart Lose Key Recruit

Georgia and Kirby Smart lost a key recruit this week.

Zach Evans, widely regarded as the top running back in the 2020 class, is backing out of his commitment to the school.

“Few recruitments have been as up-and-down as Evans’. He’s never actually verbally committed to anyone during his process,” noted 247Sports.

“But Evans has been linked to at least a half-dozen programs behind the scenes. Evans’ recruitment is expected to zero in on LSU and Texas A&M.

“The Houston native officially visited the Tigers in October and the Aggies in November. There have been a trio of Crystal Ball projections linking Evans to Texas A&M over the last few days.”

Evans is ranked the No. 14 overall prospect in his class. As of this moment, Texas A&M appears to be the favorite to land him – but obviously anything to happen.

If Jimbo Fisher does land Evans, it would be a huge get for a 2020 Texas A&M class that already ranks sixth in the country.

  1. I have been following this situation, and somebody has their facts wrong. Evan’s was com.itted to Georgia, and Georgia chose to release him due to his disciplinary issues. Now, he is free to go with anyone that is still interested. That is a totally different story than you published!
