Jerry Jones Has Tough Words For Cowboys Legend

Jerry Jones has tough words for a Cowboys legend.

Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman has made it no secret that he does not like the direction his former team is going in.

On multiple occasions, Aikman has refused to bite his tongue on the state of the Cowboys and has expressed his frustration with all the control Jones maintains over the franchise.

During a recent interview with 1310 The Ticket, Aikman indicated that the odds of him ever becoming a Cowboys GM are slim because Jones does not like to give up control. He also noted that until Jones does precisely that (give up some control), he is going to continue to “have some problems.”

“I believe that it’s unlikely that Jerry will ever bring somebody in that can help this football team in that regard just because he’s been real stubborn and steadfast, in that he’s the one in charge,” Aikman said at the time.

Well, this week Jones appeared on 105.3 and responded to his former quarterback’s commentary.

“I don’t want to speak for Troy, but Troy loves football,” he said.

“We know that. In this case, he loves the Cowboys. I’d dare say that if he owned the team or given everything he’d ever given in his life. And by the way, Troy emptied his bucket.

“Everything that he had when he came to the Cowboys and he got more after he got here. I agree,” Jones continued.

“But everything he was up until then — he emptied the bucket that day just like I did to become a Cowboy.

“Now, I would wager that if he did that to buy the team, he would do it exactly like how I do it. I would wager that because you just want to ultimately, with that much on the line and that much at stake, you want to break any ties or make the calls.”

Based on everything Jones has said over the years, it is hard to see anyone ever changing his philosophy on how to run the Cowboys.

It’s his way or the highway – and that will likely never change.

  1. I think that Jerry wants to win but he wants to win anyway in spite of not having the “Olympians” he had from 1992 to 1997. There are no more Troy Aikmans, Emmitt Smtihs or Michael Irvins, nor even Alvin Harpers or “Moose” Johnsons or any of the players that were men among boys., there are just pretty good athletes that need a leader and they will never reach their true potential until the sideline changes and Jerry has to see that and until he does things will stay the same😣
