Photo Of Depressed Russell Wilson Drowning Sorrows In Public Goes Viral
The Denver Broncos informed Russell Wilson that he would not be permitted to play against the Arizona Cardinals this week, and he didn’t handle the news particularly well.
Wilson took a nasty hit last weekend and entered concussion protocol as a result.
Although he was eventually able to clear it during the week, Broncos head coach Nathaniel Hackett decided to give him a little more rest.
Backup Brett Rypien got the nod in Wilson’s absence.
How did Wilson ultimately end up taking the news of his temporary demotion?

NFL Twitter takes no prisoners. It is a cold-hearted place full of folks who don’t generally have a ton of pity for opposing squads.
As such, reactions to the imagery poured in immediately:

Wilson has had a brutal first year with Denver. Between him and his wife, Ciara, getting called out for their inappropriate behavior, Marshawn Lynch’s troubling confession about his former teammate and all the humiliating visuals of Wilson that have emerged in recent weeks – it has been one blow after another.
No wonder Wilson looked so dejected and despondent in that casino picture.
The man has had a rough 2022.
From a football perspective, the Broncos’ decision to sit him makes sense. This is a lost year for the team. And they are paying Wilson a lot of money.

Further exposing their franchise player (for better or worse) to more potential injuries would be insane. Even against a squad as hapless as the Cardinals.
Will 2023 prove to be kinder to Wilson than 2022 was?
Time will tell.
