Mike McCarthy Makes Big First Move As Cowboys Coach
Mike McCarthy made a big first move as Cowboys coach this week.
Fresh on the heels of Jerry Jones offering him Jason Garrett’s job, McCarthy hit the ground running.
Rather than resting and basking in the glory of his new position, McCarthy went to work recruiting one of the league’s most respected special teams coordinators to his staff.
According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, longtime LA Rams coordinator John Fassel is joining the Cowboys.

Fassel’s deal with the Rams had just expired, which lined up perfectly with McCarthy’s ascension.
Prior to be picked by the Rams in 2012 Fassel worked with the Oakland Raiders from 2008 to 2011. Before that, the 45-year-old served as an assistant special teams coach for the Baltimore Ravens.
Aside from Fassel, McCarthy has also been hard at work recruiting the likes of Jim Tomsula and the team’s current offensive coordinator Kellen Moore.
