Sam Ponder’s Blunt Take On Malik Wills Ahead Of NFL Draft
Liberty star Malik Willis has quietly become one of the most talked-about young talents heading into the 2022 NFL Draft.
Between his unique skillset and unparalleled mobility, Willis has long been a popular topic of interest. But his stock hit a new level after the Combine.
For months questions about his accuracy persisted, but those doubts have since slowly started to dissipate.
This week, ESPN NFL host Sam Ponder gave a blunt assessment of Willis.
After spending the last 2 days with and around Malik, I know 1 thing for sure… his NFL teammates/fans will absolutely LOVE him. https://t.co/UMvJFK1W0W

That’s quite the endorsement.
Between scouts, team execs and now ESPN hosts like Ponder falling in love with him, as well as his unexpected Wonderlic score, it feels like Willis is destined for big things.
This past season at Liberty Willis recorded 2,857 passing yards and 27 touchdowns, all while also amassing 878 yards and 13 touchdowns via rushing.
There is one other prominent quarterback prospect figured to go in the top 10, but that’s as far as the competition goes for Willis in this year’s proceedings.
Over the past few weeks there has been some chatter about Willis going as high as No. 2 to the Detroit Lions, though that figures to be unrealistic at this juncture. There is one squad that would make a lot of sense for him, but they seem more intent on flirting with Colin Kaepernick than anything else.
If Willis doesn’t go to the Lions, the Carolina Panthers and Seattle Seahawks both seem to make a ton of sense.
That said, the team he has been most closely linked to has been the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Does he last all the way until No. 20, especially given how Pittsburgh has telegraphed the franchise’s interest in him? It’s unclear. The Steelers may risk it, and then go with their Plan B if he’s off the board.
Kenny Pickett’s girl has now weighed in on his tiny, tiny hands. https://t.co/Qe71kOB6n8

The NFL Draft is set to take place April 28, live from Las Vegas.
Where will Willis go when it’s all said and done? Time will tell.
