Chase Young Changes Mind On 2020 NFL Draft

Chase Young changed his mind on the 2020 NFL Draft.

Last week Young made headlines when he publicly came out and told TMZ that he was planning on returning to Ohio State for his senior season.

The superstar defensive end is widely considered to be one of the two best players available in the looming draft, should he elect to come out.

Late Young attempted to clarify his original statements by saying that he would not make a final decision until after Ohio State’s bowl game. That sounded more in line with what people were expecting from him.

Surely enough, on Sunday, a report emerged that Young was likely leaving school.

According to CBS Sports football insider Jason La Confora, all signs point to Young entering the 2020 NFL Draft come the end of the year.

“While Ohio State pass rusher Chase Young has played coy about his intentions for 2020, hinting that he may stay in school, several sources close to that program said they fully expect Young to enter the NFL Draft,” he wrote.

Young’s likely departure makes perfect sense. Despite missing two games this year over an NCAA violation, he recorded 16.5 sacks and was a Heisman finalist.

Given how polluted the Heisman race usually is with quarterbacks and other offensive players, Young’s presence really speaks to the impact he had on the field.

Young embodied Ohio State’s impressive defensive unit every time he took the field.

It remains to be seen how the Buckeyes will ultimately fill the enormous defensive gap Young will leave behind, but the program did prove this year that they are extremely adaptable.

Young will likely make his official announcement shortly after Ohio State wraps up its run in the College Football Playoff.
