Is Josh McDaniels returning to the Patriots and not joining the Browns?
That is the latest rumor out of New England, after McDaniels reportedly lost his opportunities at coaching the Carolina Panthers and New York Giants.
The Panthers ultimately hired Matt Rhule while the Giants brought McDaniels’ colleague, Joe Judge, on board.
McDaniels was considered a favorite to land a new job at some point over the next month and change, but his options are quickly dwindling.
At this point, Cleveland is McDaniels’ lone opportunity to find a new gig.

In a recent report, WEEI football insider Courtney Fallon reported that McDaniels’ odds of remaining in New England are now 50-50.
This comes on the heels of news that the Browns looking into several other candidates, including Jim Schwartz and Kevin Stefanski.
McDaniels has served as New England’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach since 2012. In 2017 he briefly agreed to become the new head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, before ultimately reneging on the deal.
McDaniels previously served as a head coach with the Denver Broncos in 2009 and 2010. In that time he went 11-17.
