Will Smith’s decision to slap Chris Rock for making a joke at the expense of his wife at the 2022 Oscars stunned the entertainment community.
Reactions poured in immediately, with tennis star Serena Williams offering a particularly blunt response.
Another person who had a strong answer to what transpired?
The wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Brittany Matthews. Shorty after the slap occurred, she took to Twitter to offer her thoughts:
Slapped him…. IM CONFUSED https://t.co/ge8MCiw3t3

You. Don’t. Slap. Someone.

The responses to Matthews’ take came swiftly:

Mahomes, for what it’s worth, had a short and sweet reply to the incident:
Bro……..

Matthews is obviously something of a controversial figure in her own right. Be it for her her racial tweets brouhaha or having to fight off loose rumors about her changing body, she’s always in the news for something. And more often that not, it’s provocative.
This is no different.
Clearly Matthews isn’t afraid to keep it real, even if it doesn’t earn her many brownie points online. Do some question the effect it has on her husband’s mental health? Sure. But Matthews doesn’t seem to be overly-concerned about it.

Stay tuned. This probably isn’t the last time Matthews offers her take on a major cultural moment.
What will she give her two cents on next? Time will tell.
