Will Smith’s decision to slap Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars led to some unexpected ramifications.
For starters, it completely stole the show at the awards. Nothing that happened before or after the moment mattered, including Smith’s Best Actor victory for his portrayal as Richard Williams in King Richard.
Beyond that, it also led to a cascade of sports media personalities speaking out about what transpired. Everyone from tennis GOAT Serena Williams to polarizing Patrick Mahomes wife Brittany Matthews weighed in.
Most importantly, though – it was so shocking of a moment that it led to Venus Williams suffering a wardrobe malfunction when it happened.

Interestingly enough, while Smith has received something of a polarizing reaction for opting to get violent with Rock, at least one person seems to be in his corner: son, Jaden.

Rock, for what it’s worth, seems eager to move past the incident. When given the opportunity by the LAPD to press charges after the fact, he passed.
