The 2022 World Cup is in full swing, and hockey legend Mikayla Demaiter has taken notice.

Demaiter, who once upon a time caused something of a stir for being a truly memorable goalie, has retired from her first sport and since pursued a career as a social media influencer.

This week Demaiter decided to pay tribute to the biggest soccer event in the world by honoring it as only she can.

Demaiter’s special soccer outfit largely speaks for itself:

This isn’t the first time Demaiter has blown up online for something like this. Last month, she set the internet ablaze with her one-of-a-kind tribute to Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan.

Demaiter also has more than 1.5 million followers on Instagram. Which means she regularly blows up for posts like this:

Demaiter’s most recent efforts did not go unnoticed by the larger soccer-watching world. The reactions were telling:

All in all, this has been a big few weeks for World Cup observers. Between one fan randomly taking her clothes off at a match, a memorable encounter between male and female Saudi Arabian team supporters and Paige Spiranac’s racy tribute to the tournament – it has been one thing after another.

That said, it will be tough to top Demaiter’s efforts going forward.

Will anyone ultimately be able to?

Time will tell.
