McKayla Maroney is one of the most influential and popular gymnastics stars of her generation.
As a core member of the “Fierce Five” group that won gold at the 2012 Olympic Games, Maroney went into the record books along other big-name legends like Gabby Douglas, Aly Raisman, Kyla Ross, and Jordyn Wieber.
In addition to her team gold medal in London, Maroney also captured a silver medal in the vault.
Following the 2012 games, Maroney became an international superstar. As time went on, she parlayed that prominence into legitimate celebrity that she then utilized to become one of the biggest social media influencers around.
Any time Maroney posts anything nowadays it goes viral, and this week was no exception.
In a series of posts, Maroney shared her wild tennis outfit with her fans. It was an immediate hit.

The interesting thing about Maroney is that, in a lot of ways, she paved the way for today’s gymnastics stars to cash in big via NIL deals.
These days Olivia Dunne can share an intimate photo with an NFL star and get hundreds of thousands of dollars per post. Ditto for her rival Sydney Smith and her racy videos.

She was the original gymnastics superstar social media influencer.
Thus far, Maroney has kept things pretty low-key in 2023. Will she start ramping up her public activities as the year goes on? Time will tell.
