ESPN has a surprising prediction for Duke vs Kansas.
The college basketball season officially tips off on Tuesday night when the Blue Devils take the court against the Jayhawks.
Kansas is going to trot out a group featuring Devon Dotson, Udoka Azubuike, Ochai Agbaji and Silvio De Sousa – really legit hoopers who can absolutely compete for a national title this year.
Duke, meanwhile, lost a ton of talent to the pros this past summer. Zion Williamson, Cam Reddish and RJ Barrett are all gone – and it will be up to Tre Jones, Javin DeLaurier, Alex O’Connell and Jack White to fill their shoes.

Given how much talent Duke has lost and how much Kansas retained, one would think that the latter squad would be the favorites heading into this first game.
Not so.
According to ESPN’s Basketball Power Index, Duke has a 62.2 percent chance of beating Kansas in the season opener.
What is the rationale behind this? It is hard to say. Maybe the Worldwide leader just has a lot of faith in the impact that Vernon Carey and Matthew Hurt will have.
