Danica Patrick’s Reaction To Lia Thomas’ NCAA Championship

Danica Patrick’s Reaction To Lia Thomas’ NCAA Championship

Danica Patrick is one of the most important sports stars of her generation. She is objectively the most successful woman to ever participate in open-wheel racing and has a list of accomplishments that leave her in rarified air.

Over the last few years, Patrick hasn’t been shy about wading into complex conversations.

Even if it results in her catching some serious heat.

This week it was more of the same, as Patrick touched a topic that has become particularly polarizing as of late: Lia Thomas’ NCAA championship run.

Thomas is a transgender swimmer who captured an NCAA Championship this past weekend. Why is this controversial? Because Thomas did it on the women’s team, after transitioning and going through hormone therapy.

When Patrick learned of this, she offered a response on social media:

This most recent win marked the conclusion of Thomas’ collegiate swimming career. It will be interesting to see what happens next.

As for Patrick – it’s safe to assume that this isn’t her last time making headlines. Whether she is posting racy photos that do crazy engagement or putting ex-boyfriend Aaron Rodgers on blast on social media, Patrick is always going viral these days. This was just the latest example of that.

And that’s to say nothing of her general Instagram posts, which also always do crazy numbers:

For better or worse, Patrick is a permanent member of the largest sports cultural zeitgeist. That means any time she says anything, it’s going to be big news.

What will Patrick ultimately go viral for next? Time will tell.
