The Los Angeles Lakers are one of the most iconic franchises in all of sports. As such, fans worldwide recognize their colors and their jerseys in a way they do with few other teams.
Generally speaking, when you have that sort of brand recognition, you don’t mess with it.
This week, Twitter sleuths uncovered leaked photos of the Lakers’ upcoming new jerseys.
Needless to say, they caused quite a stir:
The reactions to the new uniforms were mixed:

When the Boston Celtics’ new uniform design leaked out, it was nearly universally panned.
If that wasn’t bad enough, when the Cleveland Cavaliers’ new uniforms leaked out, it sparked literal controversy and outrage.
In that regard, the Lakers seem to be faring better. That said – the support for the fresh look doesn’t appear to be quite as strong as the minds behind it probably would’ve liked.

Will the powers that be go back to the drawing board and try something else? Time will tell.
