Victor Oladipo Makes Public NBA Comeback Pitch on Social Media

Victor Oladipo wants back in the NBA. He is not hiring an agent to make that case. He is doing it himself.
The two-time All-Star posted a public pitch on X on Wednesday, addressed to whichever team is willing to give him a shot in 2026-27 free agency. It read like something between a free agent letter and a resume.
“I’m a free agent. I don’t have an agent right now, just me and my family,” Oladipo wrote. “I know I have a lot left, and I love this game. I’d rather show you I’m ready than spend my time trying to explain why or flood you with analytics to prove it. If you’re about winning, value…”
The message continued, but the pitch was clear. Give me a workout, give me a shot, and I’ll do the rest.
Oladipo, who just turned 34 in May, has not played in the NBA since the 2022-23 season with the Miami Heat. He spent last year on a short stint with the Wisconsin Herd, the G League affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks, where he averaged 13.5 points in 15 appearances. That is not eye-popping production, but it is real work in a real professional league.
The scouting report on his current game is straightforward. His athleticism is not what it was during his peak Pacers run. His knee, ravaged by a torn patellar tendon in 2019 and again by another significant injury against the Bucks in the 2023 playoffs, will always be a question. But his shot-making, playmaking, and defensive instincts have never left. He can still be a rotation combo guard for a contender.
The window for a signing is narrow. Free agency has been open for a week and most rotation spots are filled. But there are always contenders looking for veteran depth in September, and Oladipo is a name every front office knows. His two All-Star selections in Indiana were legit. His 2018 Most Improved Player campaign was one of the best individual jumps of the decade.
The interesting thing is the no-agent piece. Oladipo is essentially telling teams he’ll take a minimum, a training camp deal, whatever they want. That kind of flexibility is exactly what a team like the Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks, or Golden State Warriors could use in the last week of camp.
Oladipo also mentioned family in his note. He recently transitioned into an ESPN analyst role in 2024 before making the G League push last year. The comeback attempt is real. This is not a legacy tour. He wants a real jersey and real minutes.
Some team is going to give him a look. If he shows even 70 percent of the old Vic in a preseason game, someone will sign him. This story is not over.
