Rick Pitino Will Be Next Head Coach Of New York Knicks
Rick Pitino will be the next head coach of the New York Knicks, if Dick Vitale has his way.
The Knicks fired David Fizdale last week after he spent less than two years with the franchise.
With Fizdale gone, the obvious question now becomes: who will replace him?
Well, according to Vitale, the answer Pitino.
The 67-year-old experienced his most recent basketball coaching rebirth in Greece where he returned to take over the national team and Panathinaikos.
Pitino’s link to the Knicks is obvious. He served as the team’s assistant coach from 1983 to 1985 and then went on to become head coach from 1987 to 1989.
Looking at the potential names for @nyknicks / some good possible choice but the BEST AVAILABLE GUY is RICK PITINO / just talk to ppl that know basketball / he would have the @TheGarden rocking .

New York made the postseason in both of Pitino’s seasons.
While a lot has obviously changed between 1989 and 2019, there is no denying that Pitino has consistently been a successful coach on every level.
Is he the right man to lead the Knicks out of the abyss and return them to semi-prominence in the Eastern Conference.
That remains to be seen.
Could this franchise do a lot worse than him? Without question.
