Nets Issue Surprising Kyrie Irving Health Update
The Nets issued a surprising Kyrie Irving health update on Monday.
Irving, 27, was one of Brooklyn’s two big acquisitions this summer. He and Kevin Durant were supposed to eventually form the best duo in the NBA.
The general belief was that while Durant got health this year, Irving would lead the Nets in a wide open Eastern Conference.
Unfortunately, that did not end up happening.
Irving got injured last month and has not suited up for Brooklyn since November 14.
More than a month later, it does not appear as though he is any closer to making a return.
While the Nets have been a bit mysterious with what precisely is plaguing Irving, it has been described as some sort of shoulder injury.
This week, head coach Kelly Atkinson said that Irving has not even been cleared for contact yet.
No Kyrie Irving (shoulder) for Knicks-Nets on Thursday. The expectation earlier this month was that Irving would be cleared to take contact in practice at this point. https://t.co/MIrFYBeqD1

According to Ian Begley of SNY, Irving was expected to have been cleared for contact by this point.
Based on everything that is known at this point, is unlikely that Irving will be available at any point in the month of January.
