Warriors Linked To Possible NBA Trades With Wizards, Pistons

The Golden State Warriors have been one of the NBA’s most disappointing teams thus far this season.

As a result, many expect them to be active ahead of the 2024 NBA Trade Deadline. In recent days they have been connected to a massive three-team trade, a notable Jonathan Kuminga deal and a win-win swap with the Chicago Bulls.

The question at this point is less whether they will make a move, but more precisely what move they will make.

This week, reports surfaced that linked the Warriors to possible NBA trades with the Washington Wizards and Detroit Pistons. Andrew Wiggins would almost certainly be included in a package involving either team.

In the case of the latter squad, Bojan Bogdanovic would be the piece coming back to Golden State. CBS Sports cited his “shooting, size, [and] secondary creation” as main motivators for the Warriors to acquire him.

As far as Washington goes, Kyle Kuzma is the incoming star in that potential trade scenario.

“Kuzma proved he can be an effective role player on a championship team with the Lakers back in 2020, but since then, he’s taken on a primary scoring and playmaking role with the Washington Wizards,” CBS Sports’ Colin Ward-Henninger noted.

“The Warriors would likely need him to do something in between, similar to how [Jerami] Grant performed with the Trail Blazers when Damian Lillard was there. The question is whether Kuzma will be able and willing to do that, since his offensive efficiency is lacking as a primary scorer (33rd percentile in the halfcourt this season, per Synergy Sports).

“Kuzma is also a strong rebounder for his position, another area where Golden State could use some help.”

Further bolstering the odds of a Kuzma-to-The Bay move is a report from The Athletic on Wednesday that revealed the Wizards’ asking price for him.

“League sources maintain Washington has been holding out for two first-round picks for Kuzma, though team sources indicate that is somewhat overblown,” David Aldridge and Josh Robbins noted. “The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.”

Be it adding someone like Kuzma or someone like Bogdanovic, the Warriors definitely need to change something up.

Will they be able to get a deal done ahead of the 2024 NBA Trade Deadline? An answer one way or the other will emerge in the coming days.
