Warriors Linked To 2 Prominent Last-Minute NBA Trades

The Golden State Warriors were linked to two prominent last-minute NBA trades this week.

With 47 games in the books, Stephen Curry and Co. sit at 22-25 – good for 12th place in the Western Conference.

If the Warriors want to have any hope of salvaging this season, something will need to change ahead of this week’s NBA Trade Deadline.

Thus far, the team has only been linked prominently to a 4-team blockbuster deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. Obviously it has yet to actually materialize.

According to Dan Favale of Bleacher Report, one of two last-minute trades could wind up coming to fruition for Golden State.

“If the Warriors are going to make a move now, it’ll likely be for a player who doesn’t require them to deal more than Moses Moody, one first-rounder and salary,” he wrote.

“[Wendall] Carter [Jr.] is basketball Nirvana for the way Golden State plays. His switchability, passing and stretch jibe well with Draymond Green, and he’s a massive upgrade over the regressive trajectory on which Kevon Looney is presently traveling.”

Whether the Orlando Magic would deem a package of Moody and assets acceptable for Carter is debatable at this juncture. Particularly knowing how desperate the Warriors are to turn their season around.

If not Carter, though – Dejounte Murray continues to be a possibility for Golden State.

“Murray isn’t the quintessential Warriors guy, but he’s come a long way offensively—both on and off the ball,” Favale noted.

“His defensive devolution is overblown, and he’s about to start an extension Golden State could possibly flip for more value down the line.”

The Warriors’ best trade offer for Murray is a matter of public record at this point. As recently as a few days ago they were linked to a 3-team NBA trade that could bring him to The Bay.

That being said, it was reported on Tuesday that only two teams have actually submitted offers to the Atlanta Hawks for Murray. Golden State is not one of them.

One way or another, the clock is ticking.

The decision that Golden State ultimately makes in the coming days will say a lot about how they view their 2023-24 campaign.

If the Warriors make a big trade, clearly they are still fighting to salvage the season. Should that not occur, though – then they have effectively thrown in the towel on this year.
