The Philadelphia 76ers are coming apart at the seams. Despite making a big, splashy Paul George acquisition over the summer, the team sits at 3-13 – good for 14th place in the Eastern Conference.
It is becoming increasingly obvious that the roster will be blown up sooner rather than later.
One likely suitor for Joel Embiid’s services has already emerged. That deal will get done soon.
Once the Embiid domino drops, George will be the next to go.
This week, a report from ClutchPoints linked the LA Lakers to a potential blockbuster trade with the Sixers for George.

In the proposed deal, LA gets George. Philly, meanwhile, receives D’Angelo Russell, Rui Hachimura, Gabe Vincent, Jaxson Hayes or Cam Reddish, and two First Rounders from 2029 and 2031.
Why does this move make sense for the Lakers?
“In just basketball terms, George makes a ton of sense,” the report notes.

“He’s a knockdown three-point shooter, especially in catch-and-shoot opportunities. He can handle the ball, too, which helps when either Davis or LeBron James is off the floor. Athletically, he’s still got enough in the tank to defend well, too. In theory, it’s perfect.”
Obviously it will be difficult for the Lakers to scrape together enough assets to get George, but people also said that when they made a play for Pau Gasol. There’s always a way.
Will the Lakers ultimately be able to pry George away from Philly ahead of the NBA Trade Deadline? Time will tell.

Dominance with the Indiana Pacers
George was drafted 10th overall by the Indiana Pacers in 2010. He quickly developed into a cornerstone player for the franchise.
In the 2012-13 season, George earned his first All-Star selection and led the Pacers to the Eastern Conference Finals.
His breakout continued in 2013-14, when he averaged 21.7 points per game and made the All-NBA Third Team.
George’s defensive prowess also shone, earning him a spot on the NBA All-Defensive First Team.
A severe leg injury in 2014 sidelined George for most of the following season. He returned stronger, showcasing remarkable resilience and determination.
Career Evolution with the Oklahoma City Thunder
In 2017, George was traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder. He formed a dynamic duo with Russell Westbrook, elevating his game to new heights.

His first season with the Clippers saw him average 21.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.

Leonard was perpetually hurt and George didn’t end up being much better. Because of their lack of success together, the Clippers refused to give George the sort of deal he wanted heading into last summer.
