Lakers Linked To Trade With Bulls For Nikola Vucevic

The Los Angeles Lakers made it clear early this summer that they wanted to bolster the center position.

Anthony Davis prefers to play the four and L.A.’s front office wanted to accommodate him to the best of their abilities.

The Lakers were briefly linked to multiple notable big men, but ultimately whiffed on getting any of them.

This week Fadeaway World linked the Lakers to a trade with the Bulls centering around Nikola Vucevic.

In the proposed deal L.A. would get Vucevic in return for D’Angelo Russell, Maxwell Lewis and a 2025 second-rounder.

“Acquiring the expiring contract of D’Angelo Russell gives the Bulls future flexibility with his money coming off the books while Maxwell Lewis could be a long-term success on the soon-to-be rebuilding franchise. Meanwhile, the Lakers get a win-now player like Vucevic without dipping deep into their draft capital,” the report notes.

It is hard to argue with that logic. Both teams seemingly get something they want within this proposed agreement while not sacrificing anything they don’t.

Yes, Vucevic isn’t exactly what the Lakers were hoping for, but he is a center with a solid set of schools. Is he Jonas Valanciunas? No, obviously not. But is he the best L.A can get right now? Absolutely.
