Andrew Wiggins’ longtime girlfriend, Mychal Johnson, has been one of his most ardent defenders for as long as anyone can remember.
This past week, in the midst of never-ending trade rumors surrounding her beau, Johnson took to social media to send a message to his team.
Specifically, she took a tweet sent out by the Warriors’ social media account and decided to amplify it herself.
It largely speaks for itself:
Clearly Johnson is pointing to the fact that, despite her man being in the midst of a career-worst run, he is still capable of going off.
Whether that will change anything or not, though, is debatable.
As noted by Matt Moore of The Action Network, the Warriors are actively attempting to move Wiggins.
“The other player the Warriors are looking to move is Andrew Wiggins, whose plus-minus splits this season are essentially a horror show,” he wrote.
“The team with the most interest in Wiggins over the last two weeks, according to sources, is the Dallas Mavericks. Details of talks aren’t known.”
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype also reported last week that Dallas has very real interest in Wiggins.
“I heard Dallas has always liked him, and they’re looking to upgrade at the three,” Scotto told Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
“They got him back that summer on a four-year extension,” Slater replied. “This is year one of the extension. You know, I think it’s somewhere around $24 million this year. That was viewed at the time as a bargain deal and team friendly.
“The way the last two seasons have gone, and particularly this season where he’s having the worst offensive year of his career, all the lineup numbers and on-court data have been terrible for him and have tanked his value. It would be kind of a sell low time for the Warriors. As far as teams, you mentioned those Dallas rumblings have been out there.”

At this point, it is hard to see a scenario where Wiggins remains in The Bay much longer.
The writing seems to be on the wall.
Where will Wiggins ultimately be playing when the 2024 NBA Trade Deadline comes and goes? An answer one way or the other is coming in the next few days.
