2 Frontrunners Emerge For Jordan Clarkson Trade With Jazz

Jordan Clarkson is one of the more intriguing names available ahead of the 2024 NBA Trade Deadline.

So far this season Clarkson is averaging 17.7 points per game on 42.1 percent shooting from the field and 30.1 percent shooting from beyond the arc.

Those numbers are down noticeably from last season, though he is also playing two fewer minutes per outing.

This week, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype revealed what one NBA executive told him about Clarkson.

“Whatever team can get Clarkson will be a game changer,” the scout said. “I think he’s the best of the volume scorers available on the trade market.”

According to Scotto, the New York Knicks “registered trade interest in Utah’s Jordan Clarkson and Kelly Olynyk earlier in January.

This report was further bolstered by NBA insider Jake Weinbach.

“Potential trade between the Knicks and Jazz: Knicks acquire Jordan Clarkson, [while] Jazz receive Evan Fournier, Quentin Grimes, 2024 first-round pick,” he wrote.

“There’s mutual interest on a deal with New York reportedly targeting Clarkson and Utah captivated by Grimes and draft picks.”

If not the Knicks, Clarkson has also been linked to the Los Angeles Lakers in recent months. There has been chatter about a potential reunion for years, so it really wouldn’t shock anyone if a move on this end did happen.

That being said, a recent report by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski suggested that the Lakers were leaning in a different direction ahead of the 2024 NBA Trade Deadline.

It will be interesting to see if that ultimately changes.

One way or another, it feels like Clarkson isn’t long for Utah. His skillset would be better served on a contending team, not a rebuilding one.

Will the Jazz trade Clarkson ahead of the 2024 NBA Trade Deadline? Time will tell.
