Russell Westbrook’s Blunt Message For His Haters (Video)
The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 108-103 on Sunday evening.
Russell Westbrook had a pretty typical game for him. He finished with 20 points, 5 assists, 3 rebounds, a block and a steal – which on their face look like great numbers.
When you dig beneath the surface, things get a bit dicer.
Westbrook’s 20 points came on 7-of-16 shooting from the field and 0-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc. His 5 assists are great, but they were accompanied by 9 turnovers. His block and steal are nice, but he still finished with a +/- of -2 and five personal fouls.
Mind you, this was all against a Wolves team that was playing without Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell.
After the game, Westbrook was questioned about his struggles.
“I disagree,” Westbrook said. “I disagree with the part that the game wasn’t going my way.”
As far as the former league MVP is concerned, he had a solid game.
“My game, you know, is fine,” he said. “My game is not predicated on shots or if I turn the ball over. Like, I miss some shots, that’s part of the game. I’m allowed to miss shots. I can do that. Like any other player, I can do that. I can turn the ball over, too. I can do that. That’s all a part of the game.”
As far as Westbrook is concerned – he just makes the right plays when they need to be made.
“When you watch a basketball game and figure out what impact making the right plays, boxing out, rebounding, whatever that may be, making the right play, making the right reads, that’s all about being a basketball player,” he said.
At this point, there’s not much left to say about Westbrook’s fit in LA.

It is an open secret at this point that the Lakers have spoken to two teams about a trade centering around him.
Whether anything will ultimately materialize on that front remains to be seen.
