New Orleans Pelicans Reveal Zion Williamson Return Date
The New Orleans Pelicans revealed Zion Williamson’s return date this week.
Williamson has sat out the entirety of the Pelicans’ regular season thus far with a torn meniscus.
That injury was supposed to cost the rookie six to eight weeks of action, but New Orleans opted not to rush him back for no reason.
On Wednesday, the team announced that their top draft pick would be returning on Wednesday, January 22 against the San Antonio Spurs.
The Pelicans are currently 15-26 and sit in second-to-last place in the Western Conference.
Despite that, the team has plenty of young talent in Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball, and many expect Williamson’s addition to jump start the rest of the season for the organization.
Pelicans No. 1 pick Zion Williamson is expected to make his season debut on Jan. 22 against San Antonio, David Griffin says.

Currently, New Orleans sits just four games shy of the Memphis Grizzlies for the No. 8 seed of the Western Conference playoffs.
Given how close everyone at the bottom of the West is in the standings, that is ground that would be very easy to make up if everything going New Orleans’ way.
When Williamson does come back, he will be on a heavy minutes restriction and will sit on the second leg of back-to-backs.
