The Los Angeles Lakers have been linked to Atlanta Hawks superstar Dejounte Murray repeatedly in recent weeks.
On Monday, rumblings emerged regarding a possible 4-team trade that would land Murray in L.A.
Whether that move materliazes or not, it seems as though the larger idea of him coming to Los Angeles is moving closer and closer to becoming a reality.
This week, Sam Amick of The Athletic spoke out about the “inevitability” surrounding this situation.
“The noise of Dejounte Murray and the Lakers continues to be louder than any other landing spot,” he said.
“The Hawks don’t have interest in D’Angelo Russell. I don’t know how this is going to finish, but there’s sense of inevitability that Dejounte is going to [be a Laker.]”
Jovan Buha of The Athletic said something similar this week. He reiterated in a recent column that Murray remains a “top priority” for the purple and gold right now.
It is worth noting, this isn’t a done deal yet. The Lakers get that.
There is a reason why in recent days the team has been connected to a controversial role player, a notable superstar and a possible Austin Reaves trade.
Every option was and continues to be on the table.

That said, there is also no denying that Murray is precisely the sort of player the Lakers need going forward. He would check a lot of boxes for the franchise both in the short term and the long term.
The question now is whether all parties involved will be able to push this one across the finish line.
Will Murray be a member of the Lakers by the time the 2024 NBA Trade Deadline comes and goes? Time will tell.
