Zion Williamson’s Relationship With Pelicans Teammates Deteriorating
Zion Williamson’s relationship with his New Orleans Pelicans teammates appears to be deteriorating.
And given that it wasn’t in a particularly good place to begin with, the fact that it is worsening should set off alarm bells within the organization.
Earlier this week, rumors began to float around the NBA that Williamson may be available for trade ahead of the 2023 Draft.
On Thursday, ESPN NBA insider Brian Windhorst appeared on ‘Get Up’ and shined a light on where things presently stand between Williamson and the Pelicans franchise.
“From what I’ve been told, Zion has not been around the team much so far this summer,” Windhorst said.
“But that is not different from the way he’s operated in the past … that he hasn’t made it a priority to be around the team as much. He’s sort of worked out on his own.
“What I’d say is that there’s definitely not the type of relationship that you’d like to have between a star player and a team here. And also, he doesn’t have as strong of relationships with his teammates, from what I am told, as you’d like to see,” he continued.
“Now, that’s not a prerequisite for success, but as you look to try to build bonds moving forward that is something to consider.”
If New Orleans does opt to trade Williamson, there appears to be one clear frontrunner for his services at the moment.
Whether or not something materializes remain to be seen, though.

Either way, obviously it’s not a great sign for Williamson or the Pelicans that things have gotten to this point.
He was supposed to be the franchise savior at one point – but now Williamson is looking like one of its biggest failures in history.
Will the Pelicans opt to trade Williamson ahead of the 2023 NBA Draft? Time will tell.
