Texas came into Sunday’s Elite Eight match-up against Miami as the consensus favorite, but ultimately the Hurricanes proved to be too much for them.

Behind a standout effort from Jordan Miller that saw him go 7-of-7 from the field and 13-of-13 from the charity stripe for 27 points on the night, Miami overwhelmed Texas like few other programs have been able to all year.

In the end, not even having a 13-point lead at one point could save the Longhorns.

While Texas’ loss was obviously disappointing, it wasn’t all bad news. The program’s cheerleaders went mega viral over the weekend.

It all started with a post to the main Texas social media account.

From there, online investigators identified the personal pages belonging to the cheerleaders and blew them up.

If it feels like this has become something of a common trend over the course of March Madness, it’s because that is in fact precisely the case. Between the San Diego State cheerleader who set the internet ablaze this weekend and the Florida Atlantic dancers whose provocative pictures went viral on Sunday, it has been one example after another.

This is just the latest.

Big picture, obviously Texas wanted to make it to the Final Four – but they still had a great year for a squad that had to change coaches abruptly.

And with Rodney Terry finalizing a deal to return in 2023-24, things figure to only improve from here.

This season’s Miami squad is on a mission, and there is no shame in losing to them.

Will Texas be able to bounce back next year and contend for a National Championship? Time will tell, but either way, the program’s cheerleaders will be there rooting them on every step of the way.
