Ben Simmons is still out of action for the Brooklyn Nets, but that hasn’t stopped him from contributing to the team in other valuable ways.
On Wednesday night, Brooklyn defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers to qualify for the No. 7 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Simmons was on hand to cheer his squad on, but that wasn’t what he ultimately ended up making headlines for.
Rather, what folks couldn’t help but notice was Simmons’ choice of outfit.
The photos largely speak for themselves:

Reactions from Twitter, as one would expect, came rather quickly:

Simmons continues to be out of action with a bizarre back injury that he somehow attained after not playing for the entire season and getting traded by the Philadelphia 76ers.
It goes without saying that it has led to a lot of alarm and concern both inside and outside the Nets’ organization.
Yes, everyone on the team appeared to hate James Harden, and yes, he is already having issues in Philly, but at least he was able to play.
Simmons, meanwhile, continues to ride the bench in street clothing. And by all accounts, that doesn’t look like it will change any time soon:
Steve Nash says Ben Simmons hasn’t started sprinting and hasn’t progressed beyond 1-0 workouts yet.

Brooklyn has a tough playoff series against the Boston Celtics in the first round. Simmons’ defensive prowess would be helpful, but it seems unrealistic that he’d be ready to play.
Especially not after missing the entire year.

If the Nets can advance, maybe Simmons can make an appearance – but even that appears unlikely.
For better or worse, it seems like the likeliest scenario in which fans will see Simmons this year is in his provocative little outfits, on the sidelines, not really doing much to help his team.
