Miami college basketball stars Haley and Hanna Cavinder are no strangers to landing in the headlines.
Last season the identical twins made a lot of noise both on and off the court.
While members of Fresno State’s women’s basketball team, Haley led all players with 19.8 points per game and Hanna came in right behind her with 14.5 points per game.
Off the court, the pair made a splash through NIL by obtaining branding deals with a number of prominent companies. The pair has accrued more than seven figures in earnings off those agreements alone.
Over the summer Haley and Hanna made the difficult decision to leave Fresno State and transfer to Miami. They laid out their thought process regarding the move in great detail.
This past week, the twins did an interview with the New York Post where they offered a word of warning to their haters who think they’ve only achieved prominence due to social media, and not their actual skills.
“A lot of people like to let us know about it,” Haley said. “But we’ll see them on the court.
“People forget that before COVID happened, and before we blew up on TikTok, we were just basketball players trying to get a college scholarship together and achieve our goals. Basketball has always been the main thing.”
Haley and Hanna boast more than 4 million followers on TikTok. They also have a sizeable Instagram following, and routinely go viral for posts like this:

It will be interesting to see how these twins ultimately fare at Miami. The spotlight will certainly be grander – as will be the expectations.
At this point, as far as women’s collegiate athletics go, only LSU’s Olivia Dunne is a bigger star than the Cavinder twins — what with her provocative vacation photos and memorable videos keeping her in the headlines.
