LSU head coach Kim Mulkey made headlines on Sunday for behavior with the media during and after her squad’s loss to South Carolina.
While the game itself was highlighted by a melee that broke out, Mulkey still found a way to steal the show.
The outspoken head coach, who went viral earlier this year for her offensive comments about Iowa’s Caitlin Clark, caught a lot of flak this weekend over some of her remarks.
The first came during the game, when a reporter asked her about how physical the outing between LSU and South Carolina was.

“Come on now, you don’t think it’s been physical this tournament?” she replied. “What do you want me to say?”
Things didn’t get much better for Mulkey after the game. Rather than own her team’s loss, she decided to blame LSU’s woes on the referees.
“Do you realize there was only one foul called on each team with two minutes left in the fourth quarter?” she said.
“Are you kidding me? That might have created some of that. Not the way we play. We’re going to foul your ass. They’re going to foul your ass. You only blew the whistle one time? Think about that now.
“Flau’jae, what I saw, intentionally fouled (Milaysia) Fulwiley because she stripped her. Great move because she’s gonna get a layup right there,” Mulkey continued.
“I wish she would have pushed Angel Reese, you don’t push a girl who is that size when you’re 6’7.”- Kim Mulkey

“Then some jawing went on with her and another player and the next thing I know Cardoso just waylaid her. So I ran because somebody came out of the stands — I think it was Flau’jae’s brother — trying to keep him from doing anything crazy.”
Jemele Hill was among the prominent personalities to call Mulkey out afterwards.
“Now if Dawn Staley would have said this ….” she wrote on social media.

Mulkey is in a league of her own in terms of both on and off the court behavior.
Last year, it worked for her.
Will Mulkey be able to silence the haters and win a championship in 2024, too? Time will tell.
