The Los Angeles Clippers lost 1.5 million followers on social media this week after making one ill-advised move.
A few days ago, not long after the real reason Kawhi Leonard was forced to leave Team USA came out, L.A. opted to ship Westbrook and draft rights to Balša Koprivica to the Utah Jazz for Kris Dunn.
“The Utah Jazz have completed a trade with the LA Clippers, sending guard Kris Dunn to the Clippers in exchange for guard Russell Westbrook, the draft rights to Balša Koprivica (57th overall pick in 2021 NBA Draft), a future second round draft pick swap, and cash considerations,” the Jazz said in an official statement.
“Dunn (6-3, 205, Providence) spent two seasons with Utah (2022-24), appearing in 88 games (35 starts), owning averages of 7.4 points, 4.3 assists, and 3.3 rebounds in 20.6 minutes per contest.”
Almost immediately after making the move, Utah announced that Westbrook was being waived. From there the former MVP quickly signed with the Denver Nuggets.
Interestingly enough, not long after the Clippers made the decision to part ways with Westbrook, they immediately lost 1.5 followers on IG.
Westbrook has always been a hugely popular player, even as his effectiveness as an on-the-court contributor has waned.
This just confirms it.
The Clippers will a lot different next season without Westbrook and Paul George, and from this vantage point, it doesn’t appear as though fans are too happy about that.
