The Los Angeles Lakers decided to hold Bronny James out of Saturday’s Summer League game following two fairly impressive showings from the youngster.
After a slow start to Summer League that led to critical comments from everyone starting with his dad and ending with Lakers head coach J.J. Redick, and one that saw people questioning Bronny’s mental health at times, he bounced back strong.
Over his last couple of outings Bronny put up 25 points on 10-of-21 shooting over, including going 3 of 8 from behind the arc. This comes on the heels of him missing his first 15 threes over the course of his first four Summer League games.
Over the weekend, LeBron spoke out on Bronny’s troubles and how he sees the youngster faring from this point forward.
“As a family, obviously, we’re just proud of the fact that he’s even at this point,” LeBron said.
“…I mean, he’s 19 years old, so he has so much room to grow. He has so much more to learn, but the best thing is that he just keeps his head down and stays focused. So the best will continue to come as he continues to work and continues to get better and better.”
A lot of people have been critical of LeBron’s decision to put Bronny to the forefront of the hoops world the way he has. Including former Lakers legends.
But clearly he isn’t phased by any of that.
LeBron truly believes Bronny has what it takes to be a pro. Whether or not he ends up being proven right remains to be seen.
