Five legitimate contenders for the 2020-21 NBA Championship are currently in the market for Glenn Robinson III.
According to Michael Sotto of HoopsHype, the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Utah Jazz and Brooklyn Nets all have interest in the former Michigan standout.
“Robinson III, 26, is entering his prime and is considered a 3-and-D wing around the league. The 6-foot-6 forward averaged 11.7 points on 48.6 percent shooting from the field and 39.1 percent shooting from downtown in 62 games played last season,” Sotto wrote.
“He started all 48 games played for the Golden State Warriors before being traded to the Philadelphia 76ers.“
All of the teams involved have been fairly active this offseason, but with the big names off the board, someone like Robinson III is viewed by many franchises as a good “final piece” of a championship-contending puzzle.
The Lakers could offer Robinson III the veteran minimum, while the Clippers and Jazz could put their $3.6 million bi-annual exceptions on the table.
Brooklyn has a $5.7 million mid-level exception to play around with, while Houston still has $8 million remaining with their mid-level exception.
Of that five-team group, the Lakers and Clippers seem to be the less likely suitors for Robinson III’s services.

The latter group desperately needs to add a point guard after losing Rajon Rondo to the Atlanta Hawks, Austin Rivers and Elfrid Payton to the New York Knicks, and Brad Wanamaker to the Golden State Warriors.
The Lakers, meanwhile, have repeatedly said they want to add yet another center (despite the addition of Marc Gasol) to ensure that Anthony Davis doesn’t have to slide over and play heavy minutes during the regular season. Beyond backup center, they’d likely also sooner address backup point guard after the departure of Rondo.
That leaves Houston, Brooklyn and Utah.

The Rockets currently are in a state of flux due to the uncertain statuses of James Harden and Russell Westbrook, so anything is possible with them. Same goes for the Nets – who are still very much in the conversation to acquire Harden.
The Jazz just doled out big money to Jordan Clarkson, so it’s unclear how much use they’d actually have for Robinson at this juncture.
One way or another, it seems like a virtual certainty that Robinson III will be picked up sooner rather than later. Who will ultimately get him? Time will tell.
