On Sunday evening Sacramento Kings sharpshooter Buddy Hield set a new NBA record.
Although the Charlotte Hornets ultimately defeated Sacramento 127-126, Hield had a very strong showing. He scored 30 points on 10-of-17 shooting from the field and 8-of-15 shooting from beyond the arc.
In the process, Hield became the fastest player in NBA history to hit 1,000 threes. It ultimately took him 350 games.

So far this year Hield has been a far better shooter from three than anywhere else. He is shooting 36.9 percent from beyond the arc, while shooting 37.7 percent from the field.
That’s insane.
It’s also crazy to think that Hield, a largely unknown player in most circles, beat the likes of Golden State Warriors stars Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson to the 1,000 threes mark.

Curry previously held the record at 369 games, Thompson is No. 3 on the list at 372 games, and Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard is fourth at 385 games.
The Kings generally only find themselves in the headlines if one of their few good players gets traded or someone on their team gets a limb broken by a dirty play, so it’s nice that the franchise was able to get some recognition for something positive for a change.
