Jordan Poole getting shipped off to the Washington Wizards was one of the biggest moves of the NBA offseason this past year.
It is rare to see a championship-winning organization like the Golden State Warriors give a guy $100 million and then send him packing one year later – but that is precisely what ended up happening.
Some thought that Poole would stop focusing so much on the ladies and experience a career revival with Washington.
That didn’t end up happening, though. Instead he has just been perpetually confused and awful. The Wizards, this week, decided to finally bench him for good.
A day after the move was made official, Poole offered his thoughts on the whole situation.
“If there’s any common sense, with the situation, you should know how I feel,” Poole said. “But I’m just going to come out, do what I can do to help the team, keep it moving.”
That being said, Poole’s play hasn’t actually changed much as a result of the move to the bench.
Against the Denver Nuggets on Thursday night, he recorded 18 points on 4-of-17 shooting from the field. In Friday’s showdown against the Oklahoma City Thunder he put up 21 points on 7-of-19 shooting.
The Wizards lost both games.
Poole seemed on track at one point to be a truly great player. During the Warriors’ most recent title run, he was arguably their second biggest star for large swaths of that season.

Unfortunately, something just fell apart after that. Maybe it is Poole’s fault. Perhaps Golden State broke him.
Maybe it is a combination of the two.
Either way, though – Poole has been a disaster with the Wizards. And the nightmare doesn’t look like it is going to end any time soon.
