JJ Redick Decided To Bench D’Angelo Russell Over 1 Specific Play
JJ Redick decided to bench D’Angelo Russell this week after 1 specific play rubbed him the wrong way.
Coming into this season, Russell repeatedly expressed how happy he was to be playing under Redick. He believed that Darvin Ham misused him and wasn’t a good coach, and hoped that Redick would be his salvation.
Turns out – Russell was the problem all along.
After this unfortunate sequence, Redick decided to bench him too:
This was the sequence that got D’Angelo Russell benched for the remainder of the game
Did JJ Redick overreact? 🤔

People had some strong reactions to it:
DLo is lucky he’s still receiving game checks from the Lakers franchise. This man is so inconsistent. It’s like being in an abusive relationship. When it’s good, it’s great. But when it’s bad, omfg run for the hills!🤦🏾♂️

No he ball watched and got destroyed. Then tried to make up for it doing a dumb hero ball play. His body language is horrible and he plays like he doesn’t wanna be there

Big picture, this is who Russell is. It’s who he always has been. And he’s unlikely to change any time soon.
He is a talented player – but a deeply flawed one in terms of the mental preparedness one need to be a star in the NBA.
There’s a reason the Lakers have wanted to trade him for two years. And there is a reason nobody has agreed to take him off their hands.
