The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Miami Heat 124-114 on Friday night. They now hold a 2-0 lead in their best of seven NBA Finals series.
Danny Green had a rough shooting performance in Game 2, going 1 of 8 from beyond the arc for a total of three points.
After the game, Lakers head coach Frank Vogel explained why Danny Green is so important despite his shooting woes.
It all boils down to defense and instincts.
“Green makes winning plays on a regular basis, provides a defensive toughness, rebounding, all those types of things, (with) his great IQ and understanding,” he said.
“You know he’s either going to blast you from the three-point line or carry the threat to blast you from the three-point line and that just helps your offence. No surprise Danny has had so much team success throughout his career. He’s just a winning player.”
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope recently opened up about why the team has faith in Green to keep shooting, no matter what.
“I’ve watched Danny in playoffs that he’s played in and I’ve seen him knock down big shots consistently,” said Caldwell-Pope.
“For us as a team, we know what Danny can do and we just encourage him every game to keep shooting. We know that Playoff Danny is going to come out.”
Green and the Lakers will look to win Game 3 of their series on Sunday.
